Qualifying Tests: Pap Smear

Like a mammogram, a PAP smear is another very short, quick test with no pre-test prep instructions.  It is composed of a vaginal inspection (via a speculum) and tissue sampling.  Most women will have had many of these in their lifetimes, and the anxiety/discomfort will be minimal.  For some it will be a new experience, but even then it’s not likely to rank high on anyone’s pain-meter, although some may associate some emotional anxiety with it.

This test will generally last no more than seven minutes, and although I assign a rating for all three line item components which encompass all seven of those minutes, the bulk of those minutes are no greater than a 3, while the 4 rating is only for 5-10 seconds.
