If your status immediately after
the transplant is as an in-patient, blood will be drawn daily to keep track of
your progress toward growing a new immune system. The set of tests run to analyze your blood is
called a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel.
Among other things, it includes a CBC (Complete Blood Count) as well as
an ANC (Absolute Neurophile Count) assessment.
The ANC is a measurement of infection fighting potential. Blood counts will be covered in detail later.
