You
will have periodic visits with your transplant team after you leave the
hospital and usually that will include a blood analysis. My samples were taken on the same day I met
with my doctor – with usually an hour or so wait time in-between for the lab to
finish the analysis. Use the blood count
table below to keep track of your numbers at each visit:

Fill
in the date at the top of each column each time blood analysis is done over the
course of the first year post-transplant.
As you reach the end of that year, your numbers should begin to
normalize and stabilize. Throughout the
year your team may find that you need to adjust for numbers that aren’t yet in
alignment, though. Note the numbers here
and make any additional notes in your daily journal and med list if a change is
required.
For
example, at my three month milestone test I was still a little low on both
electrolyte and Creatinine numbers (a measure of kidney effectiveness). I was prescribed additional Potassium and
Magnesium Oxide, which I began to reduce at the six month mark. Both will be re-evaluated during my one-year
milestone tests.
