Pre-Transplant: Social Services Consultation

My social services coordinator’s office was on the hospital floor where the in-patient transplant patients stay.  She reviewed the in-patient procedure and gave me a tour of the quarantined wing.  This agent is there to answer any questions and help you with any anxiety or depression you might have about the in-patient portion of the transplant.  They are a great resource and in my experience are friendly and accessible.  In fact I will add that everyone involved in the transplant procedure at the Arizona Cancer Center as well as its special hospital wing at UMC (University Medical Center) were extremely helpful and professional.  These professional health-care providers will do whatever it takes to minimize your anxiety and discomfort so take advantage of their expertise.
